New Zealand standout designer David Trubridge continues to push design boundaries while maintaining a commitment to sustainability and minimizing environmental impact. His philosophies are delivered through his products, with the latest additions to the range being shining examples of his principles put into action.
The David Trubridge manufacturing team has conquered a new frontier with the two year development of outdoor lights. In Spring 2012, the Floral and Coral 600 models will be available in a dazzling yet durable anodized aluminum. Suitable for either indoor or outdoor use, these striking Aluminum lights can be equipped with a suspension rod for windy settings. Choose a two-toned effect with either orange, lime or red on one side and natural aluminum on the other, or choose anodized color on both sides, available in black or white. The lights are shipped assembled in a custom built plywood crate to ensure the light is delivered in pristine condition.
Last year Trubridge launched the 8 foot high, multi-colored giant Koura at Wanted Design. This year they have added to the number of architectural, large-scale lights available in the Grow Range which includes the Kina, Koura, Flax, and Hinaki. These imposing fixtures lend scale and proportion to open spaces, aesthetically integrating organic shapes with precise design. With LED light technology subtlety integrated into the structure, the source of light disappears into the design. When illuminated, the fixture floods with light, and the shade comes majestically alive with the dance of brilliant shadows.
Thinking of all those people with small apartments and living spaces, they have also gone the other way and developed the all-new Mini-Grow range of radically scaled-down kitset lights, Kina, Koura and Hinaki. The fixtures feature a similar material technology developed for the Mini Coral and Floral series launched in 2011. This amazing three-ply bamboo plywood is less than a 1/25” thick. It is strong yet still flexible enough to bend to tight design curves. While intended for an intimate corner, large spaces will also benefit from multiple mini-Grows bunched for dramatic effect.
